Spartan Tuition Advantage is redefining college access and affordability for Michiganders through its tuition-free financial aid program. If you have further questions about your financial aid package, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.

Beginning with the 24-25 aid year, newly-admitted students qualifying for in-state tuition who are Pell-eligible with household incomes of $65,000 or less will have up to 18 credits of tuition per semester covered for up to eight semesters through a combination of federal, state, and institutional gift aid. There is no application necessary; eligible students will be automatically packaged based on annually verified information from the FAFSA.

Incoming 2024-25 new in-state resident undergraduate admits. Transfer students do not qualify for Spartan Tuition Advantage.

Yes. All newly-admitted students qualifying for in-state tuition who are Pell-eligible with household incomes of $65,000 or less are eligible.

No. Spartan Tuition Advantage is only available for the fall and/or spring terms. Students may be eligible for other awards that cover summer enrollment.

No. You must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. to be eligible for Spartan Tuition Advantage.

Annual submission of the FAFSA is required. Students must continue to meet the annual eligibility requirements to receive this award in subsequent years. There is an award maximum of eight consecutive semesters, excluding summer.
