helpful tools

May 1st - College Decision Day has passed. We are excited to meet the Spartan Class of 2019! If you are a new student or parent to the university here are a few great tools that can help you with financial aid along the way:

  • - This is our student portal where we communicate with the student about the status of their financial aid. It is also where electronic bills are available. Students can set-up direct deposit here as well.
  • - Our website has a lot of important information such as types of aid available at MSU, interest rates, our net price calculator, and much more.
  • - This is our online video channel that has many tutorials to assist students and families through the financial aid and billing process.
  • MSU Tuition Calculator - This is a great tool to use when you are estimating costs for tuition, fees, room and board. The Controller's Office maintains this tool and uses current semester information. They will be updating it with 2015-2016 information as soon as the Board of Trustees approves tuition. This often occurs around June.
  • - Here you can find a lot of helpful information from the academic calendar to course information.
  • - This website provides detailed information about federal student aid programs from Pell Grants to Student Loans. It also contains a student loan repayment calculator to help estimate payments after graduation. *Please note that this website will be undergoing updates May 9th and May 10th so it may be temporarily unavailable.

website outage

When completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or logging in to other federal student aid websites, you will no longer use the 4 digit federal pin. Instead you will be asked to create a user name (also known as the FSA ID) and password. You will also be able to use the user name and password to electronically sign your FAFSA application.

Due to these changes several federal student aid websites will be down from 7:00pm on May 9th through 12:00pm on May 10th. The following federal student aid websites will be temporarily unavailable during this time:, FAFSA on the Web (, National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), and
