January is a great time of year to begin your 2015-2016 scholarship search. Many scholarship deadlines are February 1st and March 1st. Be sure to check with your academic department to see if they offer scholarships and what the process is to apply.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available to complete online at The 2015-2016 FAFSA is needed to be considered for financial aid for Fall 2015, Spring 2016, and/or Summer 2016. It is recommended that you complete the FAFSA no later than March 1st.

Be cautious when completing the FAFSA and go to If you accidentally go to you will be charged a fee to complete the FAFSA. The FAFSA is a free application. Also, if you wait to complete your FAFSA until a couple of weeks after you file your taxes you can use the IRS data retrieval tool to directly transfer your information from the IRS to the FAFSA.

Kick Off 2015 with 8 College Scholarships

With school in full swing again after the holiday break, you’re likely to be spending most of your academic time thinking about classes, homework and activities. But the period from now until the end of March is also one of the busiest parts of the scholarship calendar. Lots of major national programs are open for application right now, and we don’t want you to miss out.

February 6th - End of tuition refund period for spring semester courses - no refunds after this date.
March 1st - Recommended FAFSA Filing Deadline for 2015-2016 (FAFSA filing deadline to be considered for State of Michigan awards)
March 9th - March 13th - Spring Break
