Before calling our office it is important to have two pieces of information available. The first is the student's PID. It typically begins with the letter "A" followed by 8 numbers. This allows us to quickly locate the student's information. Since Michigan State serves a large community it is not uncommon that we have students with the same first and last name.

The second piece of information that is needed in order for us to release personal information over the phone are answers to security questions. We refer to this process as "eSecurity". Here are the actions needed to complete this process:

Step 1: Student logs into StuInfo
Step 2: Under the "Financial" menu, select "Security Questions for Financial Aid"
Step 3: Answer the 3 security questions.
Step 4: Add the first and last name of any parent or other individual that you want to authorize to speak to us regarding your financial aid.

When we receive a call we ask for the student's PID and will then ask a security question. Without the PID and security questions we can only answer general questions and cannot give specific account information. We do this to comply with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and protect your information.

May 8th - May 10th - Spring 2015 Commencement
July 25 - Initial Fall 2015 billing statements are available electronically on StuInfo (no paper bills are mailed)
August 13 - Initial minimum tuition and fee payment is due for Fall 2015
